Heather Smith is the Vice President, Strategic Projects, with over 30 years of healthcare experience and currently works within the senior leadership team of NMC Healthcare. Heather has lead the opening of the first private women’s hospital in Abu Dhabi, Brightpoint Royal Women’s Hospital. In addition, she leads a number of strategic projects in improving healthcare in the U.A.E. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s Degree in Public Health. Heather is an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow and Certified in Executive Nursing Practice by the American Organization of Nurse Executives. She is also certified in LEAN in healthcare training from the University of Tennessee. Her major areas of expertise are in management of acute hospitals, both in the public and private sector. She has worked in the U.S., Australia, Indonesia, Qatar, and the UK in the capacity of a healthcare leader. Heather thrives in building and leading teams in managing a variety of healthcare providers, including inpatient, outpatient, and preventive health. Heather has served as a Member at Large for the Board of AmCham Abu Dhabi, Chairperson of the Women in Business Committee, leader of the Women Achieve initiative and member of the Human Resources Committee. Fun fact, Heather like Sharief is a proud Cedar Falls High School graduate in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
